Benefits at FBR

We offer a highly competitive and comprehensive benefits program that rounds out a well-balanced total compensation plan.

An overview of the benefits available at FBR:

Medical Coverage

FBR offers comprehensive medical, vision and prescription coverage to all of our employees and their eligible dependents. Eligible Employees can choose between preferred provider option (PPO) and point of service open access (POSOA) plans administered by Cigna, and have the option of selecting their own healthcare providers. FBR subsidizes the major share of the costs of this benefit and employee contributions are made on a pre-tax basis.

Dental Coverage

Eligible Employees are offered dental coverage administered by MetLife, which pays 100% of the expenses for in-network preventive, routine procedures. The plan also provides tiered coverage for most other dental services. FBR subsidizes the major share of the costs of this benefit and employee contributions are made on a pre-tax basis.

Life Insurance

FBR provides and pays for life insurance coverage equal to two times annual earnings - up to $500,000 - for all eligible employees. The firm also offers an elective supplemental life insurance program above the company-paid portion, up to $1 million in total coverage. The supplemental insurance premiums are deducted from the employee's paycheck on an after-tax basis.

Disability Insurance

FBR offers and pays for both short-term and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. In addition, FBR employees have the opportunity to purchase supplemental disability insurance which can be paid for through payroll deductions.

Travel Accident Insurance

FBR employees are covered with $500,000 of travel accident insurance for business-related travel.

401(k) Plan

Eligible employees may contribute up to 60% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to help prepare for their future retirement. Eligibility to participate in the 401(k) plan is immediate. Rollovers from other qualified plans are accepted. The FBR plan allows 100% self-direction with respect to 401(k) investments. FBR employees may also invest in FBR company stock through their 401(k) plan.  In the quarter following one year of service, eligible employees will be qualified for the 401(k) Matching Program.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)

Eligible employees may invest in FBR company stock through after-tax payroll deductions. The purchase price is discounted and the offering period is six months.

Healthcare Flexible Spending Account

This is an optional benefit that allows eligible employees to make pre-tax deductions to pay for eligible healthcare expenses.

Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account

Eligible Employees may elect to participate in this optional benefit that allows them to take pre-tax deductions to pay for eligible dependent and child care expenses.

Parking Reimbursement Account

This optional benefit allows eligible employees to use pre-tax dollars, through payroll deductions, to pay for eligible parking expenses related to their commute to work.

Mass Transportation Account

Employees may elect to participate in this optional benefit that allows them to make pre-tax deductions to pay for eligible public transportation expenses related to their commute to work.

Emergency Back Up Child Care

FBR partners with a leading national vendor to offer the highest quality emergency back up child care in the industry, serving eligible dependents when their regular arrangements are unavailable.  These back up child care centers are designed for children 3 months to 13 years of age with centers near all of our major offices across the United States. 

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

All FBR employees have access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a free confidential information resource available 24 hours a day over the phone or through the Internet. EAP counselors are trained and ready to assist employees with questions about family issues, health and wellness, managing life changes, work, education and learning, and much more.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

Eligible FBR employees receive a competitive and flexible paid time off benefit. The PTO benefit is designed to enable employees to relax and rejuvenate, as well as to create a healthy balance between work and the rest of life.

Observed Holidays

Employees enjoy paid time off for the holidays observed by the New York Stock Exchange.

Employee Referral Program

FBR employees can enrich themselves and their workplace through the T.R.A.D.E. program, which stands for Talented Referrals and Dollars Exchanged. Employees who make referrals for eligible positions can earn from $1,500 to $25,000.

Tuition Reimbursement

FBR is dedicated to investing in lifelong learning. Tuition reimbursement is available for eligible employees to continue their formal education in subjects related to their current position or to other opportunities within FBR. This generous benefit offers tuition reimbursement for up to 12 hours of credit per year.

Learning and Development

FBR encourages and supports ongoing learning and development for all of our employees. FBR will pay for classes, seminars, continuing education, professional memberships, licensing, certification and other endeavors that promote advancement for our employees.

In addition, we offer on-site open enrollment courses taught by top instructors in their areas of expertise, including organizational learning, leadership, team work and business-specific education. Our own on-site FBR University provides an extensive list of training and enrichment opportunities.

Fitness Facility

Employees in our Arlington headquarters enjoy a fitness facility with panoramic views of downtown Washington and the Potomac River. Personal trainers and massage therapists are there to assist employees in developing a healthy approach to fitness training.

Breakfast and Lunch

There is such a thing as a free lunch! Every day, FBR provides all employees in our main office in Arlington with a continental breakfast and catered lunch, including an entree and a fresh salad bar. In addition, some of our satellite offices enjoy subsidized lunch benefits.
